Patrick O'Shei is a seasoned, well-rounded executive whose

strengths lie in both executive-level strategy and hands-on frontline support as a mentor/coach and analyst. He enjoys solving complex problems, implementing real-world and practical solutions and achieving results while helping to develop the capabilities of the people around him. He has created a unique body of work by applying his statistical and process improvement knowledge (Constraint Management, etc.) to the financial analysis of existing businesses and their asset utilization to create financial viability. He has done focused empirical market and competitive analysis.
He has trained and developed leaders and teams in a variety of settings from large manufacturers to construction, hospitality and adult education. He has specific knowledge and experience in manufacturing and converting operations including process control, quality assurance, cycle-time reduction, just-in-time methods, safety management (DuPont System), product development (Quality Function Deployment) and continuous improvement methods (Six-Sigma, Constraint Management, Statistical Process Control & Design of Experiments). He has worked extensively with both suppliers and customers including site-visits, field trials and negotiations. He uses a sophisticated set of analytical skills for evaluating the root cause of negative effects and determining the points of leverage for optimizing process performance and product design.
As an executive overseeing capital investment, he has excellent working knowledge of environmental permitting, OSHA compliance and experience working with governmental & regulatory agencies. Some of his specific accomplishments include:
- Completing the business planning & financial analysis for $20 MM in borrowing and coordinating all necessary permitting, site remediation and bidding/contract negotiations required to begin construction.
- Overseeing construction of a new waste-water treatment facility, a 300 bay parking lot and a six-story housing and conference facility which incorporates leading edge environmental design including radiant heating & cooling as well as day-lighting and passive cooling design elements.
- Brought a 50-year old (150,000 sq. ft.) multi-use structure into ADA compliance.
His recent professional history includes work at ESCO Energy Services (VP Operations & Finance), the Kripalu Center (VP Business, Facility & Technology Development), SUNY Empire State College (Mentor/Lecturer) and Applied Energy Management, as well as independent project-based consulting work.
Patrick’s twenty eight years of professional experience and much of his consulting work have been with firms selling into the highly demanding Automotive, Food, Medical Markets, Aerospace and Electronics Markets.
Patrick spent 10 years working for Fortune 500 manufacturing firms. He worked for both International Paper (as a Process Engineer, and a Superintendent for Quality, serving as the quality/ technical liaison with Xerox Corporation), and for The Dexter Corporation, where he was the Director for Total Quality Systems and oversaw the supplier quality program.
Patrick holds an MS from Rochester Institute of Technology in Applied Statistics and BS Engineering from SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry. He was a certified quality engineer (ASQ) for six years and trained as a lead auditor for ISO 9000 Quality Systems. During the development and rollout of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, he was charged with benchmarking the winners, and incorporating their processes at Dexter. He has participated in the educational offerings of Motorola (Six Sigma), Xerox (Leadership through Quality, Benchmarking), Milliken (Quick Response & Visual/Metric Management) and others.
